It All Begins When People Come Together
The Cuchara Recreational Cooperative began to take shape in the Spring of 2008 when a group of local residents and business leaders met to talk about ways to bring year round recreation back to
The first group meeting was held on March 6th, 2008 at the Walsenburg Golf Course Clubhouse and each month, more and more people have come together to join the project.
Since that time, volunteers have given of their time and financial resources for the purposes of assessing the recreational opportunities in the area, creating a non-profit corporation, developing a business plan, creating marketing plans and reaching out to the community for ideas and suggestions.
Our goal is to provide a venue for a host of activities throughout the three seasons of Cuchara presented in friendly, family oriented atmosphere.
Recreational Opportunities Abound!
Among the winter activities that may be possible are Downhill Skiing, A Nordic Center, Tubing, Snowshoe Trails and Horse Drawn Sleigh Rides. Expanded summer activities could include an Alpine Slide, Mountain Biking, Guided Wildlife Tours, Music and Art Festivals and much more.
